Background

Since photographing his first wedding at the age of 9, Allum Ross has demonstrated a natural talent for capturing emotion and spirituality on film. Allum has studied and worked in all aspects of photography through four years as a combat and press photographer for the US Navy, The Golden Gate and West Coast Schools of Photography and with premiere photographers and educators, including Monte Zucker, Rocky Gunn, Bill Stockwell and Phil Borges.

In over 25 years of business, Allum has received numerous awards for his extraordinary images, including awards from the Professional Photographers of America and Wedding Photography International. Allum has photographed over 1200 weddings, many celebrities, including President Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, Michael Jackson, Danny Glover and Mayor Jerry Brown, and his images have appeared in many publications, including Modern Bride, Black Brides and Signature Bride.

Allum blends his passion for travel and photography into a form of photographic ethnography (photo-ethnography). He travels the world to document people’s lives and stories to promote awareness, compassion and understanding. He is interested in human experience, in particular within indigenious cultures and the African Diaspora.
